Metro Infanta Foundation funded 42 students who had to add two more years of high school in 2016-17, because the Philippine government decided to bump up the school years to K-12 to upgrade their educational system and compete better globally, they claim.
In June 2016, the DepEd launched Enhanced Basic Education Act, which was signed by President Benigno Aquino, Jr. on May 15, 2013. To offset the absence of freshmen that year, colleges accepted students to replace those they should have admitted that school year. These scholars have since moved up to college, with some opting to stay at St. Paul University Manila.
St. Paul University Manila was among the many colleges that took in such students. The government provided some subsidy, but it was not enough, of course. Thus, the university was forced to raise more funds. The university’s fund campaign, H.O.P.E. Ablaze, provided some source.
Metro Infanta Foundation supported the campaign with a grant of $25,000 (more than 1 million in Philippine pesos) paid over three years. Thank you donors for your continued support!
