In 2014, Metro Infanta Foundation (MIF) raised $25,000 to help the Diocese of Borongan after the Supertyphoon Haiyan. The youth of St. Thomas More Parish (STM) in Centennial, Colorado, not only helped raise the funds, but also spent their summer vacation in July 2014. They helped build a few of the 30 homes the funds hope to build.
Six years later, on December 8, 2019, the National Heritage Church of the Immaculate Conception will finally be rededicated. The Apostolic Nuncio, The Most Reverend Gabriele Giordano Caccia, will preside at the rededication.
By the way, Archbishop Caccia will soon be leaving the Philippines to replace Archbishop Bernardito Auza as Permanent Observer to the United Nations. Pope Frances recently appointed Archbishop Auza as Apostolic Nuncio to Spain.
Meanwhile, at the request of Antonio Labayen, an MIF donor and supporter of the Diocese of Borongan, Metro Infanta Foundation donated 25,000 pesos for their choir uniforms. Socio Pastoral Institute (SPI) facilitated the transfer of funds.
