Over the years, Metro Infanta Foundation has helped renovate churches, or at least just refurbish the interior, such as the pews and the Eucharistic Chapel of the St. Mark’s Cathedral. At times it’s the exterior, such as the Bell Tower and facade of the Shrine of St. Joseph in Polillo, and St. Rafael’s Church in Real, Quezon.
Sometimes it’s both the interior and exterior such as the St. John the Baptist Church in Panukulan, which was made possible by the children of St. Thomas More Parish in Centennial, Colorado, “Pennies From Heaven” campaign. We are happy too that we have made a significant contribution to the major renovation of the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Shrine in New Manila, which recently has been declared a national shrine. In addition Metro Infanta Foundation donated funds for a couple of rooms for the Carmelite Seminary.
Recently, we also made a contribution to the construction of a chapel to provide more worship space for the growing Catholic population in Infanta. The new chapel will also be used as a “smaller venue for weddings, baptism, and funerals,” according to Father Nilvon Villanueva, parish priest. He explained this was the reason why the construction had to tear down the prayer garden built and dedicated during the golden anniversary of the Carmelite mission in the Philippines.
