Tony Vera Cruz to promote Gabaldon Fund Campaign
By Mila Glodava
Tony Vera Cruz, who provides the Saudi Arabian-based training on Enveronmental Management System IISO 14001:2004) and Occupational Health and Safety Management System )OHSAS 18001:2007) for OFWs, plans to use his training sessions in Saudi Arabia or in Manila as a springboard for the Gabaldon Fund Campaign.
You may recall that Tony was among the first to respond to our call to help resurrect Gabaldon school house in Infanta. He not only offered to give a $500 donation, but also offered to organize the fund campaign among Infantahin OFWs. To date, however, none has made the call to him in response.
Undaunted, he is going ahead with his fund campaign. "I’ve decided to push through with my plan to raise fund just by myself, God willing, after coming back from Manila on 4th July 2010," said Tony. "My plan is to conduct one-day basic course related to Quality Management System (ISO 9001:2008). Nowadays here in Saudi Arabia, one of the qualifications required for senior and assistant engineering positions (even for support staff) is having knowledge in quality management systems. Each attendee will donate a minimum of USD20 (refer Ambassador Rudy Arizala’s thought on raising $200,000). The email attachments you sent is very timely in my plan, i.e., to show to attendees before the training starts. All donations will go to Gabaldon project."
"I will shoulder the costs of materials/stationeries to be used during the training.
In addition Tony plans to approach recruiting agencies to have their applicants (Saudi-bound) attend this same basic course. "Instead of asking for fees, I will ask them for some donations for Gabaldon project."
tony added, "I am lifting up all these plans to God for His blessing. Let us all pray to God that this is one of His mysterious ways in raising funds for Gabaldon project. Pray for me to be God’s instrument on this plan."
While in Manila Tony, who received the first honorable mention, hopes to have a reunion with and engage his former classmates (see below) to rally around this project. "I hope and pray to God that I can do more for Gabaldon project. Memories during my elementary days in Gabaldon Building are treasured in my heart. "
