HOLY CROSS continues outreach to Sister Parish

Holy Cross Catholic Church in Thornton continues its Sister Parish partnership with San Luis Obispo in Baler, Aurora, Philippines.

In 2008 they funded the following:
Formation retreats for the youth-$500,
Scholarships for 12 students to attend Mount Carmel College-$4,000,
One scholarship for a deaf boy to attend a boarding school for the deaf1, in Laguna-$660,
Provided money to stock three village fish ponds, buy vegetable seeds and animals for the poorest villages and to help fund feeding programs in three areas for undernourished children-$2,148,
Provided children's vitamins for 146 children-$1,185,
Provided an extra $3,000 from private funding for emergency health needs and unforeseen expenses,
Another $2,000 was spent to purchase the new items shipped to them in the boxes.
Making a total of $16,133 spent for the benefit of the poorest villages of San Luis Obispo and San Luis Rey Parishes in the Philippines.

Shipped 33 boxes at a cost of $2,640 (265 total boxes have been shipped since 2001)

Editor's Note: Please pray for Delcie's husband, Vince, who has been incapacitated by a freak accident. He is out of danger but he is still wheelchair-bound. Vince and Delcie visit San Luis and Baler regularly since 2003. Because of Vince's condition, Delcie has to postpone her 2009 trip until later.
